Our hearts are heavy to hear of Mandisa’s passing at the young age of 47. Mandisa’s management confirmed her passing April 18th at her home in Nashville. She was a light in a dark world. Her encouraging and empowering lyrics touched many lives. Heaven’s choir sounds even more wonderful this morning. Thank you for sharing your heart with us through music, Mandisa. Mandisa first came to our attention with American Idol. She was a Season 5 contestant. Since then she had become a platinum-selling artist and had won several Grammys for her music. Mandisa last performed in our area in 2021 for Hills Alive.
American Idol had a tribute remembering Mandisa and showcased a performance from American Idol Alumni Colton Dixon (Season 11), Danny Gokey (Season 8), and Melinda Doolittle (Season 6). The trio came together to sing one of Mandisa’s favorite songs, “Shackles (Praise You)” by Mary Mary. See the performance and the kind words the artists shared in the video below.
