The City of Rapid City has introduced an online feature for you to monitor snow removal efforts in real-time. Accessible via the ‘Snow Event Map’ link on the Streets Division page of the City’s website, the map displays the city’s 21 snow removal routes and indicates one of three service levels during snow events:
Level A (2-4 inches of snow): Focuses on main roads, emergency routes, steep streets, and busy intersections, including downtown areas during active snowfall.
Level B (4-6 inches): Includes smaller roads and high-traffic residential streets, in addition to Level A areas and continued downtown snow removal during active snowfall.
Level C (6 or more inches): Covers all other streets, with assistance from contractors to expedite clearing.
This initiative aims to keep you informed about the priorities and progress of city street crews during winter events.
