May 15 @ 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm
A few members of City staff are volunteering our time to create a program to help Rapid City residents struggling to pay their water, sewer, and garbage bills. As you can imagine, the ability to keep these services active is vital for health, dignity, and basic living needs. We are calling this program City Utility Assist and we are organizing an event to support it.
Bowls of Hope is the first event planned to help us raise funds for City Utility Assist. I am personally asking you to join us as part of Bowls of Hope – A Pay-What-You-can Soup Dinner. This will be a heartwarming event that brings our community together to help neighbors in need—one bowl at a time.
All proceeds from Bowls of Hope go directly to a dedicated account administered by The Society of St. Vincent de Paul to support households facing financial hardship, helping them avoid service shutoffs and get back on their feet.
There are a few meaningful ways you can help:
Help us spread the word
If you see our posts on Social Media, please like and share them. Post the attached flyers in your workspaces. Share the flyer with your friends and community connections.
Donate a crockpot of soup
We’re looking for volunteers to prepare and donate soup for the event. Homemade or store-bought, every pot helps fill someone’s bowl—and makes the event possible.
Attend the event and make a donation
Come enjoy a variety of soups, enjoy the music of local singer-song-writer Chris Graves, connect with colleagues and community members, and make a contribution to support City Utility Assist.
