Elementary Music Teacher- Part-time
GENERAL SUMMARY:
To exemplify the Christian faith and life in daily activities. To meet with each class (P4-5th grade) once a week for a specified amount of time appropriate to their age level and attention span.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. In a non-competitive environment, have the students actively explore all aspects of music to include melody, rhythm, harmony, timber, beat, style, improvisation, composition and form.
2. Introduce students to the various musical time periods, a select number of composers and the instruments of the orchestra through active listening lessons.
3. Lesson time is spent exploring music through the use of Orff instruments (both pitched and unpitched) and recorders.
4. Movement and dance is also incorporated as well as rhythmic work through rhymes and poems.
5. Help prepare and organize Christmas program and spring concert.
6. Love and Logic is to reviewed and used for classroom management.
7. At the end of the school year, all materials are to be inventoried.
8. Determine need for any new instruments or materials.
** This is a part-time position of 8-12 hours per week.
** Must have or be able to acquire a SD Teaching license.
