Elementary P.E. Teacher- Part-time
GENERAL SUMMARY:
To exemplify the Christian faith and life in daily activities. The goal of physical education should be to promote a healthy active lifestyle that persists through adulthood by offering quality teaching and quality curriculum. A quality physical education program provides children with skills, and knowledge they need to lead a healthy active lifestyle.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. The physical education teacher at Zion Lutheran School teaches class to students in kindergarten through fifth grade three times a week.
2. To expose students to a variety of physical activities and sports.
3. Care for the physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being of the student.
4. The teacher is also responsible for getting the students timed, measured, and ready for their chosen events at the track meet in the spring.
5. In the event there is not a track meet, the PE teacher is in charge of a fun field day.
6. As staff determines, the PE teacher may coordinate the Jump rope for Heart or other Physical Education related charitable fund-raisers.
7. Use of Love and Logic form of discipline.
8. Maintain inventories and organize supplies or materials for Physical Education classes.
9. Teach Christian values such as teamwork, sportsmanship, empathy and encouragement.
10. Communicate with classroom teachers for student success.
** This position is 12-18 hours per week. Must have or be able to aquire a SD Teaching License.
