Client Accounting Services Manager – Freidel & Associates

Freidel & Associates is seeking a Client Accounting Services Manager to join our team remotely or in Rapid City, South Dakota. The ideal candidate will have 4 or more years of public accounting experience, CPA designation or equivalent, and knowledge of US GAAP, cash basis and modified cash basis financial reporting.

This position could be a perfect opportunity for someone with public accounting experience who desires more of pseudo Private Accounting, in-depth advisory relationship with entrepreneurs, offering white glove service and supplying them with the information and support they need to run their businesses effectively. Candidates who enjoy the variety and learning elements of public accounting and are considering Controller or Accounting Manager roles with private industry businesses would be a great fit.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily operations of the Freidel & Associates team and assigned book of business alongside the Partner of Accounting & Business Advisory (“Partner”). They will also be responsible for managing staff’s month-end client reports, serving accounting staff by answering questions and helping to solve accounting issues, reviewing and preparing adjusting journal entries, and preparing outlines and participating alongside Partner in select Monthly and Quarterly Reporting & Strategy Calls with clients.

Responsibilities
In addition to the above, specific responsibilities include:
• Ensuring that the output of our firm is excellent, timely and reliable.
• Optimizing our operation including oversight of staff capacity, development, and training of domestic and global team members.
• Providing consistent, timely, and understandable communication with clients and team members.
• Assisting the Partner with implementing strategic initiatives for our department.
• Helping clients and team innovate to increase throughput, build profitability, enhance team dynamics, and invest in a positive impact.
• Collaborating with the Partner to set performance expectations of staff, suggesting development paths for our domestic and offshore colleagues, build our relationships with our team members, and oversee accountability.
• Managing staff’s month-end client reports to verify the highest quality of work is being delivered to clients including for punctuality, completeness, and accuracy.
• Serving accounting staff by answering questions and helping to solve accounting issues.
• Reviewing and preparing adjusting journal entries, solve complex reconciliation challenges.
• Preparing outlines and participating alongside Partner in select Monthly and Quarterly Strategy Calls with clients.
• Answering client questions via email, video, and onsite meetings.
• Engaging with clients to resolve challenges, capture all documentation and key client communication points in central database, summarize and relay relevant comments from clients to appropriate team member(s).
• Representing the company in a courteous, efficient, and friendly manner in all client and employee interactions.
• Coordinating multiple special accounting related projects simultaneously.
• Assisting the Partner with an exceptional client onboarding experience, holding staff accountable for milestones, working with clients to gather critical deliverables.

Qualifications
• CPA designation or significant experience preferred
• 4+ years of public accounting experience or equivalent; experience with retail, hospitality and construction a plus
• Experience with accounting reconciliations, including intercompany activities and related problem-solving
• Knowledge of US GAAP, cash basis, and modified cash basis financial reporting
• Demonstrated success operating within a virtual environment
• Ability to manage stress and demands of clients while meeting deadlines
• Excellent verbal, written, and video communication skills
• Ability to multitask to manage multiple clients simultaneously
• Self-starter with a desire to learn and seek new challenges
• High degree of confidentiality
• Proficiency with technology, including Microsoft suite, Gmail, Zoom, QuickBooks Online & Desktop
• Ability to manage large quantities of data within a database and extract or interpret needed information
• A dedicated, secure, and quiet room to work from home if/when needed with no interruptions to conduct video calls. Maintains a strong, reliable internet connection
• Management experience is optimal, however candidates with strong aptitude and desire will be considered.

Salary: $80,000.00 – $115,000.00 per year
